UK facing £6bn-a-year ‘perma-backlog’ of asylum seekers under Home Office plans – charts

At the height of the European migrant crisis, around £400million was spent on housing asylum-seekers in the UK. In 2022, this figure was nine times higher, and things are only going to get worse, according to a new report.
