Getty Millions of workers will pay more tax and ultimately take home less of their salary after the National Insurance tax rise[/caption] The government announced plans last year for a social levy to help fund the NHS and care home support. The funding is coming from an increase to National Insurance tax by 1.25 percentage points. The hikes will hit the finances of around 25million Brits, who will have to pay 1.25 percentage points extra in contributions. There had been hopes that Chancellor Rishi Sunak would delay this tax hike in his Spring Statement last week amid the cost of living crisis. Barrage of solar storms to strike Earth TODAY triggering auroras amid warnings of ‘tech chaos’

A FRENZY of solar storms has erupted from the Sun this week and it could lead to dazzling showings of the Northern Lights. A total of 17 have been captured by Nasa observatories exploding from the star and at least two of them are heading this way. When they reach Earth, they will trigger what is known as a geomagnetic storm – a largely harmless disturbance of the magnetic field. On its space weather alert system , the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration warned of possible effects on Earth. It said that geomagnetic storms of G3 (strong) and G2 (moderate) ratings were expected on Thursday and Friday respectively.
