The ‘oldest woman alive’ is a hoax, stemming from a viral TikTok.

In the video posted by his granddaughter, Luang Ta or Luang Pho Yai is seen praying with a little girl. 

Luang Ta is a Buddhist monk who lives in Thailand.

Due to these videos going viral, ‘oldest woman alive 399 years old’ has been trending on social media.

One of the videos of Luang Ta has nearly 90 million views.

Neither the videos nor the captions cite how old Luang Ta is, thereby leading to the spread of misinformation regarding his age and gender.

According to Marca, Luang Ta is 109 years old, not 399.

Who is the oldest person in the world?

Kane Tanaka is the world’s oldest living person, having celebrated her 119th birthday in January.

She was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2019.

The longest period of time a human has lived is 122 years and 164 days.

Jeanne Calment of France is the only person verified to have lived over 120 years, from 1875 until 1997. 

However, mathematician Nikolay Zak, claims he has uncovered a host of inconsistencies regarding Calment’s age.
