The Tories must give no thought to a General Election and instead focus on reforms after Brexit
ANYBODY in the Tory Party even considering a June election needs their head examined.
The public is sick to the back teeth of politicians seemingly unable to carry out the task set for them twice over in a Referendum and a General Election: to take us out of the European Union, with a good deal or a managed clean break.

For the first time in months, Parliament last week took a giant step in that direction – and the Prime Minister and the Cabinet should be focussed on delivering the changes to the backstop that the Commons demanded.
That should be the only thing on anybody’s mind in Westminster.
Once we are free of the EU’s shackles, the priority must be to supercharge the British economy, with a new Chancellor and a reinvigorated party setting a course for Britain to become ever more competitive on the global stage.
The Party can start on genuine reform of the Health Service, and allow British businesses to be at the forefront of new technology.

The Tories must show real progress on housing and welfare reform.
Nobody in the Government should imagine they’ll romp to victory in an election just because they’re up against Jeremy Corbyn’s Venezuela-flavoured socialism.
That didn’t work last time, and it might well fail again.
