MPs give FINAL approval on bill to trigger Article 50
THERESA May and her Brexit ministers have secured a huge breakthrough after MPs gave final approval to a bill to trigger Article 50 during a decisive House of Commons vote this evening.

MPs tonight voted to approve the Government's Brexit bill
MPs tonight voted 494 to 122 in favour of approving the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill, which will now proceed to the House of Lords.

Despite a Labour rebellion, which saw a number of MPs ignore Jeremy Corbyn’s three-line whip, the bill passed by a clear 372 majority at 8.15pm this evening.

It followed an evening of disappointment and frustration for Westminster Europhiles, who saw several amendments rejected in a series of other votes.

Now the bill will progress to the House of Lords, where it is also expected to be approved, before Theresa May finally begins exit negotiations with the European Union itself.

As well as a boost to Brexiteers, tonight's vote was a huge blow to Mr Corbyn and Labour, which now face yet another period of turmoil.

While Tory MPs listened to Mrs May's warning earlier in the week that "now is not the time to oppose the will of the people", Mr Corbyn was given no such respect.

Despite asking his party to vote with the Government, 52 rebel MPs refused.

Theresa Mad had warned MPs not to oppose the will of the people prior to the vote

Clive Lewis resigned from his shadow cabinet minutes before the result was announced, explaining he could not vote for something which would hurt his Norwich South constituency.

Rumours were circulating in Westminster this morning Mr Corbyn was considering stepping down as leader - claims rejected by his own team who claimed someone was spreading "mischief".

Regardless of the truth in these whispers, the opposition leader now faces his biggest crisis yet.
Former Labour leadership candidate Owen Smith said he was "proud" to vote against something which will make the UK "poorer".

He Tweeted after the result was announced: "Proud to have voted tonight alongside 51 Labour colleagues not to trigger Article 50. Brexit will make our country poorer."

Continued cooperation with the EU to tackle terrorism and international crime.

Green Party co-leader lashed out at Labour following tonight’s result.
She said: “The Labour party has colluded with the Tories today. Despite not a single Labour amendment being accepted their leadership trooped through the lobbies with the Government, holding their hand as they lurch towards an extreme Brexit. “I congratulate those Labour MPs like Clive Lewis who stood up for what’s right tonight – I know that their decision to defy the whip won’t have been taken lightly.”

Politicians are wrong about what the public want

So the, out of touch political elite are trying to say that the public would be happy to cough up an extra £2000 a year, per household to prop up the NHS?
Advertisers website Wrong! While many British families struggle to make ends meet, the political elite thinks that people will be glad to fund a failing business that is being run into the ground because of their failed policies on how the NHS is managed?

Has the Supreme Court handed Boris Johnson a Brexit escape route?

The Supreme Court’s judgment is the latest constitutional perversion after the Benn act. But ironically it may assist the Government in achieving its objective of Britain leaving the EU by 31 October, without having to seek an extension to the Article 50 process.
In paragraph 34, the Supreme Court states that its ‘proper function’ under our constitution is to give effect to the separation of powers (which justifies court intervention in relation to prorogation). Then, in what appears to be an innocuous sentence in paragraph 55, it says that it is to be “remember[ed] always that the actual task of governing is for the executive and not for Parliament or the courts.”
Yet the Benn Act manifestly contradicts this principle. It dictates how the Government must conduct negotiations with a foreign body, the EU, to the extent of obliging the Prime Minister to write specifically worded letters and accept whatever extension it offers when certain conditions are not met. In the situation when t…
