Asteroid 138971 watch LIVE – Huge ‘potentially dangerous’ space rock 3 times bigger than Empire State passed Earth TODAY

A GIGANTIC asteroid made its way towards Earth in recent days and Nasa labeled it as “potentially hazardous” before it passed our planet on Friday.

The US space agency expected the large space rock to fly by Earth at a “close” distance and space fans were able to watch it live.

Asteroid 138971 (2001 CB21) is said to be up to 4,265 feet wide, making it almost three times as big as the Empire State Building, but it was not expected to hit Earth and didn’t do so on Friday, March 4.

Space enthusiasts were able to watch the asteroid as it shot past Earth thanks to the The Virtual Telescope Project 2.0.

You can also track Asteroid 138971 (2001 CB21) virtually at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Small-Body Database Lookup website.
