It’s not quite clear yet why Brown shot at Mr Greenberg though speculation online suggests he may have been motivated by his activist roots.

Those close to Brown have hit back calling it “irresponsible” to jump to conclusions and expressed concern about his mental state.

Rob Eggert, his attorney, told the Courier Journal that Brown had disappeared for about two weeks last year and was found on a park bench in New York.

“This is not a hate crime — it is a mental health case,” he told the publication the day after the attack.

Brown, 21, was charged on February 14, 2022, with attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment.

A judge set his bail at $100,000 and if bail is reached, Brown must stay well clear of Greenberg.

Greenberg was entering his office at Butchertown Market in Louisville around 10.15am when a gunman opened fire. Greenberg’s clothes were grazed by a bullet but he remained untouched.
