Swap cocktails and clubbing for a feel-good fitness break in Mallorca

Resolutions fallen by the wayside? A feel-good fitness break could be just the ticket, says Celebrity Editor Kelly Allen.

Think of Mallorca and you probably imagine yourself lounging by a pool, Love-Island-style, with cocktails and dusk-till-dawn dancing.

If you’re looking for a break The Body Camp Mallorca is for you
It’s a holiday that leaves you feeling much better

Not 6am wake-up calls, an intense exercise schedule and a booze ban.

But if you’re looking for a break – and a holiday that leaves you feeling much better – The Body Camp Mallorca is for you.

The luxury fitness retreat is set on a sprawling 25-acre site in Sencelles, just half an hour from Palma airport.

Think rustic stone buildings surrounded by lush, green countryside, where you can go for a blissful wander and pick plump figs from the trees.

The camp hosts a maximum of 18 guests in a mix of private and same-sex shared accommodation, and the workouts, setting, ethos and nutritious food are designed to leave you feeling replenished.

BODY POSITIVE: The Body Camp is not a weight-loss retreat. In fact, there isn’t even a set of scales on site.

Instead, the inspirational trainers work with you to reframe your attitude to your body, helping you to make positive changes, both physically and mentally.

It’s no surprise the camps are loved by celebs including Emma Willis and Lisa Snowdon, among others.

However, there is a strict rule that everyone here is equal.

The fitness programme is designed for all abilities, and the biggest surprise is that it’s fun – especially the dance classes and sing-along ’80s circuit training.

Whether you’ve never been into exercise, or have got out of the habit, The Body Camp is the perfect kick-starter for a healthier lifestyle.

Most guests travel solo to dedicate a whole week to themselves, and many are return visitors who made friends on previous trips.

THE DAILY GRIND: If you’re worried the exercise regime sounds too full-on, never fear, you can opt out of anything.

But taking part is encouraged, and the group will help motivate you.

Each morning the classes begin at 6.30am and end around 1pm. Sessions vary from beach workouts, hikes, HIIT, boxing and swimming.

It’s a fab programme that’s rewarding yet challenging, while encouraging teamwork, and all set to a pumping playlist.

There are optional classes in the afternoon such as yoga, barre, meditation and mindfulness, but of course it is your holiday so you can lie by the pool and relax, too.

GET FEASTING: It might sound unusual for a health break, but you’ll never go hungry at The Body Camp.

The philosophy is to eat locally, organically and plant-based.

Resident chef Ben Whale cooks up delicious meals in the open-plan dining room, and his demonstrations mean you can recreate the dishes at home, while the food looks Michelin-star-level pretty.

Stand-outs include the white bean and onion fondue with raw vegetables, and the sweet potato and red onion hash with sautéed button mushrooms, kale, roast garlic and toasted piri-piri pumpkin seeds.

Got a sweet tooth?

The healthy tiramisu tastes like the real thing, plus you get two daily treats, including vegan brownies and an incred homemade Magnum ice cream.

BOOK IT: The Body Camp Mallorca opens from April 1.

A week costs from £1,750 (programme runs Friday-Friday), which includes all food and drink (Thebodycamp.com).

EasyJet and BA fly to Mallorca from £59 return. Airport transfers cost around £38.

  • FYI: For those looking for a shorter break, The Body Camp is opening a UK base this year (though we can’t guarantee sunshine!)
