Farms are set to kill and burn 100,000 pigs because of a post-Brexit butchers' shortage
Leading figures in the livestock industry say that the animals face being killed and burned because Home Secretary Priti Patel has failed to include the job on a list of shortage occupations.

  1. What utter bollocks, it's due to a number of things.
    1) there's a shortage of butchers....most butchers of today work for supermarkets, there are very few family/shop butchers around.
    As a butcher myself(no longer working in trade) most of what I see is supermarket butchers only are able to cut joints and chops, give them a carcass to properly joint and bone and they wouldn't have a clue.
    2) most English families eat pork once in a while, it's european families that eat pork in large amounts.
    3) the eu don't like competition, British beef,pork and lamb are by far superior to any produced by the eu, and therefore the price is higher, which you would expect from a superior product. Also the eu have put in place a variety of rules and regulations to make it near impossible to the export said products.
