Bulgaria BANS British holidaymakers – just days after UK adds country to green list

Bulgaria has BANNED Brits from entering the country – just days after the UK added it to it’s own green list.

The UK government announced the addition to the green list would be in place from July 19, in line with the UK’s Freedom Day.

However, Bulgaria has since added the UK to it’s own red list, being enforced on the same day.

Bulgaria’s red list bans all arrivals from that country unless for limited reasons – holidays not included.

The country’s Health Minister Stoicho Katsarov confirmed the changes will be in place from July 19, the Independent has reported.

Brits who have holidays booked from next week will have to contact their airline or tour operator as trips will no longer be able to go ahead.

The country is popular with families on package holidays, with the Sunny Beach resort a cheap destination.

It comes just days after the UK’s announcement that Bulgaria, Croatia, Hong Kong and Taiwan would be added to the green list from next week.

However, the Balearic Islands have been removed from the green list and are now on the amber list, requiring a 10-day quarantine when returning home.

Despite this, fully vaxxed Brits will be able to skip the amber list quarantine from Monday due to the new rules, effectively turning most of Europe green for travellers who have had both jabs.

Holidaymakers are advised to check local restrictions, as some countries are still not allowing Brits in right now.
