Brits were left outraged last night when we suffered a humiliating defeat in the competition, failing to score a single point.
While we sat firmly at the bottom of the leader-board, Italy was crowned this year’s winner after their rock act secured a huge 524 points.
France, who we gave our 12 points to, landed second place, and Switzerland third in the contest, which was hosted in Rotterdam this year.
British viewers have been in uproar over James’ treatment from the 39 voting countries, but Piers has claimed that the singer has nobody to blame but himself.James Newman received zero points in a humiliating defeat[/caption]
Taking to his Twitter page, the outspoken TV presenter wrote: “The UK didn’t get ‘nul points’ in the Eurovision Song Contest because of some sinister revenge for Brexit.
“We got ‘nul points’ because we had a crap song, performed by a crap singer who gave a crap performance. End.”
The scathing remark ruffled followers, with one replying: “Harsh Piers, I think the song was good, catchy and upbeat full of positivity and in a sense political in itself.
“Nil points is definitely a message from the EU regards hatred of Brexit. They don’t like to see us succeed.”He argued the entire performance and song wasn’t up to scratch[/caption] The remark ruffled fans[/caption]
Another argued: “No it happened last time too. It’s because we are hated by other countries. The song wasn’t that bad.”
A third echoed: “It wasn’t crap neither was the singer.
“Eurovision has been political for years and we haven’t done well for years.”Meanwhile, Phillip Schofield defended James[/caption]

Piers appears to be largely alone in his stance, with many other celebs taking to their social media platform to back James.
Phillip Schofield angrily took to his Instagram page to share a photo of the leader-board and rant: “Well F you then!
“Well done @JamesNewman we love you. It was an amazing show, but honestly why do we bother?”
Meanwhile, Katie Price laughed off the performance as she insisted she should have represented the UK instead.
