Commons Erupts As Boris Demolishes SNPs EU Plan

Boris Johnson today grilled the Scottish National Party’s plans to rejoin the European Union. Video below.

Boris urged the SNP to focus on Scotland and their issues at home and not attempt to rejoin the European Union.

The UK left the EU last week, marking the end to the first stage of Brexit. This afternoon, Mr Johnson criticised the SNP’s EU plans and rejected their offer for him to back their legislation.

Boris will soon negotiate a trade deal with the European Union based on the Canadian model.

The SNP’s Westminster leader said: “This afternoon the SNP will present is NHS protection bill to remove the very real threat of Tory privatisation. Will the Prime Minister commit right now to supporting our legislation?”

Boris replied: “Mr Speaker I find it very odd to denounce this country’s wish to have trade deals around the world.

“As I understand it their proposals are to try to rejoin the EU, to therefore have a different currency with name they have yet to identify, to have a border and just after this country has taken back control of its outstanding marine wealth, to hand it back to Brussels. That’s their policy.”

In light of the EU referenudm, Nicola Sturgeon is calling for a second independence referenudm. The Scottish parliament recently voted in favour of a second vote.

The Scottish Government motion, backed with 64 MSPs in support and 54 opposed, expressed support for “a referendum taking place on a date and in a manner determined by the Scottish Parliament, which the Scottish Government proposes should take place in 2020”.
