Boris Johnson warns there’s no better outcome than his fantastic’ Brexit deal ahead of Super Saturday Commons showdown

BORIS Johnson has warned MPs they won’t get a better Brexit deal than his “fantastic” one – ahead of his Super Saturday Commons showdown tomorrow.

Ahead of a knife-edge battle tomorrow the PM told anyone thinking of voting it down that this was the best one available.

Boris has said his deal is the best MPs are going to get

“There’s no better outcome than the one I’m advocating tomorrow,” he told the BBC and ITV tonight.

He urged MPs to come together and finally let the world experience a huge “sigh of relief” and so everyone could “move on”.

“I just kind of invite everybody to imagine what it could be like tomorrow evening, if we have settled this, and we have respected the will of the people, because we will then have a chance to to move on.”

The past three years had been a “long, exhausting and quite divisive business Brexit,” he said.

It comes as:

  • A fresh poll shows Brits want MPs to vote through the deal tomorrow
  • Two Government ministers were reported to be on ‘resignation watch’ over Boris’ deal
  • A fresh plot emerged from Rebel Tories to force Boris Johnson to seek an extension tonight – even if his vote passes
  • Labour Remainers are set to make a decision today on whether to push a plan for a second referendum
  • Angela Merkel told EU leaders the bloc WOULD offer Britain a Brexit extension if the deal gets rejected
  • DUP MPs started piling on the pressure to Eurosceptic MPs to join them in opposing the deal
  • Court of Appeal judges have rejected Liberty’s bid for an urgent hearing of its case against Prime Minister Boris Johnson over Brexit – as they argue his deal is illegal

Boris said this evening: “I hope that people will think… what do our constituents really want?

“Do they want to keep going with this argument, do they want more division and delay?”

And again he repeated his promise to leave the EU on October 31 no matter what happens.

Despite saying yesterday that he was “confident” it would pass, the PM appeared a bit more downbeat this evening.

When asked if it was likely to pass, he said: “I very much hope so.”

And he added: “I hope we do [come out] at the end of the month.

“I hope, I hope people vote for it tomorrow.”

Boris hailed his deal as a “great deal for the country , a great deal for the whole of the UK”.

“It lets us come out whole and entire, do free trade deals with the rest of the world.

“From the get go we take back control of money, borders, laws and all the rest of it.”

The PM also revealed he was trying to woo over Labour MPs with the promise of a workers’ rights package.

“The Withdrawal Bill will almost certainly contain the kind of protections and provisions that you are talking about,” he said.

“It will be a very good bill”.

In interview with ITV and the BBC he said the wold would heave a sigh of relief if they voted for it tomorrow

The numbers: which MPs could vote for the deal?

As of Friday night, 7pm

EXPECTED TO VOTE FOR THE DEAL

270 Tories – Most of the Tory party (including 11 from the ERG)

14 sacked Tory rebels

8 Labour MPs

4 Independent MPs

Total: 296

MAYBES:

1 Lib Dem

17 ERG MPs

6 undecided Tory rebels

A handful of Labour MPs in Leave voting areas wavering

Total: 31

EXPECTED TO VOTE IT DOWN

237 – Most of the Labour party except those who have declared already

10 DUP

18 Liberal Democrats

5 The Independent Group for Change

1 Green

4 Plaid

35 SNP

2 Independents

Total: 312

MPS WHO DON’T VOTE

1 Speaker

3 Deputies

7 Sinn Fein

TOTAL – 11

Today the DUP were upping the pressure on their allies in the Tory party to join with them to vote down the deal.

The DUP’s Sammy Wilson said earlier: “Conservative & Unionist MPs must take a stand for the Union and join us in rejecting this deal. Internal & burdensome trade barriers will be erected within the UK without parallel consent from both unionists & nationalists. This is not Brexit.”

Boris needs the backing of Labour MPs, Ex-Tories and some of the hardline group of eurosceptic MPs to get it through.

At the moment it’s still on a knife edge as around 30 MPs have yet to decide which way to go.
